The gear you need to make your next grilling party a success
Summer time is here, which means it’s the perfect time to fire up the grill! During the summer, we will cook almost everything on the grill including hamburgers, hotdogs, corn on the cob, shish kabobs, pork chops, ribs, etc. We absolutely love the way our food tastes once it has been grilled; it is incomparable to anything else. After decades of grilling under our belts, we have found these grilling accessories to be the ones we simply could not live without.
What I Need Before I Fire Up the Grill
Silicone Basting Brush
Silicon basting brushes are great for spreading barbecue sauce or thick marinades on your meat of choice. They are heat resistant and easy to clean. Some brushes are even dishwasher safe, but be sure to check with the manufacture first.
Fully Stocked Grilling Apron
Wearing a grilling apron helps you keep all of your grilling necessities organized and in one place. We recommend loading up the apron before you get started, so you can ensure that you have everything you need. Two items you are definitely going to want in your apron are your favorite grilling spatula and tongs. Any of the items mentioned in the following section would also be a good fit.
What I Need While Grilling
Silicone Oven Mitts
Oven mitts help protect your hands from getting burnt while grilling. We recommend silicone oven mitts because they are naturally fire resistant and they are very flexible. Silicone oven mitts come in a variety of colors and designs, so this is an opportunity to really express yourself. You may even be able to find a silicon oven mitt with your favorite sports team on it!
Reliable Meat Thermometer
Undercooked meat can potentially be harmful to consume, and overcooked meat is just not enjoyable to eat. That’s why having a reliable meat thermometer is so important. We recommend a digital meat thermometer because they are easy to read, and they often alert you when your meat reaches the ideal temperature.
Stainless Steel Kabob Skewers
If you are planning to make shish kabobs, then this grilling accessory is just what you need. Wooden skewers are prone to burning and some are often not strong enough to hold all the food you want. Stainless steel skewers, on the other hand, are able to withstand an immense amount of heat without ever catching on fire and they are very durable. Plus, they're reusable!
Stuffed Burger Press
Our favorite thing to throw on the grill is burgers. Since we have burgers so often, we like to try out different recipes to add a little variation to our palates. Our stuffed burger press allows us to stuff our burgers with a variety of cheeses, veggies, and seasonings. Burger presses are easy to use and allow you to create the perfect size burgers every time.
Non-Stick BBQ Grill Mat
These grill mats have come in clutch for us so far this summer! They can be placed on any grill rack, providing a flat heat-resistant surface to grill on. They allow us to cook things on our grill that we otherwise would not be able to. They are perfect for delicate foods like eggs, fish, squash, onions, and tomatoes.
What I Need for Clean Up
Cleaning your grill immediately after it cools down is the best way to ensure that you can get all of the caked-on food particles that inevitably end up on the cooking grate or warming rack after a solid grilling session. We recommend using a grill brush with stainless steel bristles, as these provide a thorough cleaning without scratching your grill.
While a grill brush will take off the majority of leftover food particles on your grill, it is the grill cleaner that really gives your grill that polished look. We recommend using grill cleaner after every use. Always make sure your grill is completely cool before you apply the grill cleaner; otherwise, it will not work properly.
The Bottom Line
