A New Pet Wearable Device Offers Pet Parents Unprecedented Peace of Mind

If you’re a fan of wearable technology such as the best new Fitbit or Oura ring and you’re a proud pet parent, you’ll be as excited as the pet-loving tech attendees at this year’s CES 2022 show. Taking home an innovation honoree award, the new iPetWeaR device brings high-tech health care to your furry family members. The exciting new device also earned a nod from TechRadar as one of the quirkiest devices they couldn’t wait to see before the Los Vegas Consumer Electronics Show began.

Technology has slowly trickled into our pets’ lives, from devices that ensure our left-alone fur-friend enjoys a serving of their favorite dog food or cat food on schedule even when we’re away, to self-cleaning litter boxes to keep cat litter fresh. But now, for pet lovers who want to keep a closer watch on their pet’s health that goes beyond their checkups, flea treatments, and vaccinations alone, this wearable device and a smartphone app are all they need to track their pet’s health on a new level and from any location. This not only offers peace of mind for pet parents when they’re away from their pet, but it can also be a game-changer for elderly pets or for those with health problems.

The creator of the iPetWeaR, the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), believes the innovative new device offers pet parents unprecedented new insight into pet health.

What is the iPetWeaR Device?

The iPetWeaR wearable is a small device that attaches to your dog or cat’s collar and uses the latest low-power radar for physiological monitoring to detect physical activity levels in your pet as well as vital signs. Pet parents can open the smartphone app at any time and from any location to check on their pet, learning not only their heart rate and respiration, but also tracking their activity rates throughout the day and learning whether their fur-friend is asleep or awake. The device also sends an alert to the parent’s phone in the event of an abnormality through a convenient cross-platform iOS/Android app.

According to veterinarians, early detection of sudden anomalies in heart rate and respiration can be a critical life-saving tool in the event of a heart attack, stroke, or other serious illnesses. Also, the ability to track physical activity level patterns throughout the day offers important insight into other aspects of a dog’s health so parents can make improvements if needed to their pet’s routine.

Convenient Collar Attachment

The small sensor device attaches to one of a selection of compatible pet collars. The wearable doesn’t have to make contact with the pet’s skin in order to function correctly. The technology is harmless to the pet and has potentially life-saving implications. The iPetWear works indoors and outdoors in any weather condition and has an adaptable design that can integrate with the mattress in your pet’s favorite dog bed or cat bed.

This new wearable for pets is not only game-changing for pet parents but may also be an important new tool for pet shelters, pet foster parents, and rescue organizations.
